Ski/Snowboard Lesson FAQs
Very. We encourage our guests to recognize that there is an element of risk when participating in a sport like snow sports, but if you take lessons, follow all signage, observe all warnings, practice good skiing etiquette and wear a helmet, you will be very safe.
All skiers and snowboarders should familiarize themselves with the skiers code Article 18.
You don’t have to be an athlete to ski. Today, modern equipment does most of the work for you. If you do some exercises before your first ski experience, you will enjoy it more. First of all, you’ll learn faster, because you won’t tire so easily during the learning process. You’re going to fall down some while learning so you’ll be able to get back up and bounce back faster if you’re in shape. Walking briskly, jogging, jumping rope, or stretching are great ways to prepare for a day on the slopes.
Which is better? Skiing or snowboarding? It really comes down to preference as well as your level of fitness, and there certainly is no telling whether one sport is easier to learn than another! On your first day you will find both equally challenging.
Skiing is usually easier to learn for a first-time visitor but it varies person to person.
YES! For liability reasons, all skiers and boarders on the slopes must be in possession of an access pass of some type regardless of whether they use a lift.
A lesson is not required, but highly recommended if you are a first-time skier/boarder. Having at least a basic knowledge of how to turn and stop before going on larger slopes will give you confidence and help keep you skiing or riding safely.
Reservations are recommended for all Private lessons and Kidz World programs, especially during holiday times but are never required. Intro2Snow lessons are not reserved; they are first come/first served even if purchased ahead online. Please plan plenty of time to be ready so you can get into the lesson time you desire.
Lesson times are when the lesson starts so plan to be at the lesson meeting spot ahead of that time.
On low-volume days (weekdays and early/late season weekends) arriving 45 minutes before your lesson should be adequate. On high-volume days (peak season weekends and holiday hours) it may take up to 90 minutes from parking lot to lesson area. Plan plenty of time so you can arrive to the lesson check in on time and ready to go.
No. Our TBL course is designed to help you learn some basics skills before you have need of a lift. We also have 2 surface lifts (conveyor belt style) that are a great first step toward being ready for an aerial lift (elevated).
TBL makes learning to ski or snowboard easier and more fun. By using specifically shaped snow features to naturally control your speed and body position Terrain Based Learning removes the traditional fears and anxiety associated with your first time sliding on snow, allowing you to focus purely on the fun!
Using Terrain Based Learning we’ve simplified the process of learning to ski or snowboard down to five simple steps… Look for the flags and scan the QR codes to see what each feature has to teach you. Click here for more details.
Yes, Greek Peak has a great selection of beginner terrain spread across the entire resort so you can explore and enjoy a variety throughout your day.
It is almost never too early for your first experience on snow. Children as young as 2 years old that are steady on their feet are able to get their first exposure to sliding on snow.
At this young age, the focus should be totally on fun and leaving them wanting more!
We carry several training tools in the Rental Shop to help you get out there with your little ones including harnesses, edgy-wedgy’s and a Burton Handlebar for our tiniest snowboards.
